Information / talks
Native vegetation areas worth visiting on the Yorke Peninsula are listed below. Some of these areas are cared for by our group, others by various organisations ie.council, government, NP&WS etc.

Ramsey CP - 147ha - newly dedicated park that has a number of endangered flora species including Acacia Enterocarpaand Euphrasia Collina ssp osbornii
Minlacowie CP- 28.5ha newly dedicated small park that has a number of endangered flora species including a number of orchids.
Levens Beach CP - 502ha - Accessible public park that has good examples of coastal vegetation, including Gahnia filum sedgelands.
Carribie CP - 19.5ha - remnant sheoak/mallee vegetation
Thidna Scrub - 800ha - Unallocated crown land waiting to be dedicated as a conservation park, with coastal dune system and inland salt lakes.
Warrenben CP - 4065ha - Large reserve providing habitat for a number of threatened species including Annual Candles, Goldsack's Leek-orchid, Malleefowl and Western Whipbird.
Innes NP - 9232ha - Dedicated to preserve the Western Whipbird - natural coastal vegetation with 333 recorded native species, 115 of which are of conservation significance
Rocky Bend Flora Reserve - good example of remnant NYP vegetation with a number of annual daisy species
Agery Reserve - populations of the large-club Spider orchid in amongst remnant NYP vegetation.
Ardrossan Reserve - a public reserve looked after by council. recently has a section fenced off to allow native vegetation to regrow to its natural size and habit. Has a surprisingly high number of native species.
Barkers Rocks - a coastal conservation reserve with walking trails on the southern side of Port Rickaby.
Mulbura Park - 19ha National Trust reserve of Sheoak woodland and local mallee with 136 indigenous species.
Brentwood Cemetery - small cemetery reserve with the only known population of the Brentwood Ghost Spider orchid along with excellent examples of other local orchids and lilies.
Roadside Scrub -- small area of excellent roadside scrub along the Cutline Road that has orchid and lily species during Spring - adjoining landowner has a number of Heritage Agreement scrub blocks that feature many lilies and orchids, including 4 or 5 species of sun orchids.
Pine Point - small area located about 18klm south of Ardrossen. Has the largest significant stand of the rare species Acacia rhetinocarpa. This species was on the verge of extinction until it was decided to protect the remaining plants. This area is maintained by the APS group know as COOTS - (Conservation of our threatened species)
There are also a number of private property areas which the group will arrange to visit at a future date.
